The Stronghold Method

At The Stronghold, we believe that strength is for everyone — and that building it is a lifelong pursuit. No matter your background, age, or experience, you are an athlete, and your training should support not just performance, but long-term health and longevity.

The Stronghold is run by Matthew Green and Danielle Firth, combining real-world experience, continual learning, and a shared passion for helping people become stronger, healthier, and more capable in everyday life. Our approach focuses on purposeful training that builds resilience, confidence, and physical independence — now and into the future.

We train for strength, health, and longevity. That means learning solid movement, developing real strength, and progressing at a pace that supports your body rather than breaking it down. Whether you’re new to training or highly experienced, we aim to challenge you appropriately, encourage consistency, and celebrate progress at every level.

Matthew brings his background as a full-time firefighter and coach into group training sessions held Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm, following the Stronghold Method — structured, effective training built on proven principles. Alongside this, individual coaching sessions are offered from our home gym for those seeking a more personalised approach.

Danielle is a full-time artist and coach who also offers one-on-one home coaching sessions, bringing a thoughtful, individualised focus to each athlete’s journey.

In addition to regular coaching, we run kettlebell and powerlifting workshops designed to educate, refine technique, and deepen understanding of strength training fundamentals.

The Stronghold is intentionally small, personal, and community-driven. It’s a place where people can train without judgement, be supported, and feel comfortable being themselves. The skills, confidence, and resilience built through training carry over into all areas of life — well beyond the gym.
